Did you know?

• Census results help determine how billions of dollars in federal funding flow into states and communities each year.
• The census determines how many Representatives each state gets. If residents are not accurately counted, communities will not be properly represented in Congress.
• The census is used by the federal government to determine levels of funding for programs. An undercount would deny communities vital funds that are needed for roads, schools, hospitals, programs for the poor, the elderly, and children, and other critical services. Data also helps communities respond to natural disasters.
• The data can help inform where companies in many industries decide to locate their facilities, so an inaccurate census could cost a community jobs.
• The hardest to count communities include people of color, children under 5, the rural and urban poor, immigrants and refugees, unmarried women, the LGBTQ community, and more.
