2023 Grant Guidelines

We're doing things differently in 2023. Read on to learn more.

Grant Guidelines

PBF will be embarking on a full-scale operational refresh in 2024 as we plan for the future of our foundation, and as a result, we won't be accepting grant requests in 2024.

Community Grants and Major Grants awarded in 2023 will be automatically renewed and funded again in 2024.

PBF’s guidelines are an important part of the partnership we seek to achieve with applicants. We offer these guidelines as a way to help organizations find the right grant program for their request, and to offer insight into the application process.

COMMUNITY GRANTS ($1,000–$5,000)

Community Grants will be awarded to eligible organizations as general operating support grants. Applicants that receive a Community Grant in 2023 will have their request automatically renewed and funded again in 2024, so long as they remain in good standing with the IRS.

MAJOR GRANTS ($5,001–$25,000)

Major Grants will provide flexible funding support for programs, projects, or initiatives that address one or more of PBF’s funding priority areas and demonstrate community enhancement and meaningful impact over the grant term. Applicants that receive a Major Grant in 2023 will have their request automatically renewed and funded again in 2024, so long as they remain in good standing with the IRS.

*** Organizations applying for a Major Grant must have audited financial statements or a financial review conducted by an independent auditor. ***

SIGNATURE GRANTS ($100,000)

Signature Grants will provide multi-year, flexible funding support for innovative programs focused on long-term, sustainable change. In 2023, PBF will offer three $100,000 Signature Grants—one for each of our funding priority areas. Grantees will have the option to have their grant paid out over one, two, or three years.
